A fascinating day of adventure and challenge for everyone!

On the banks of the beautiful Waikato River, just 10 minutes north of Taupo, you’ll find New Zealand’s only Prawn Park.
It’s the home of ‘Shawn the Prawn’.

Shawn’s Walk

‘Shawn the Prawn’ is so proud of his unique Park that he is inviting visitors to come and experience his huge playground. Shawn’s Walk shows off the world of the prawn, how they breed, what they eat, how to catch one and how to eat one!

Shawn’s Walk is a fascinating day of education, adventure and entertainment and there’s lots for the whole family to enjoy.

On ‘Shawn’s Walk’ you’ll get to:

  • Go for a tour through the Hatchery, where more than one billion prawn babies are born every year
  • Hand feed the baby prawns in the Nursery
  • Play on all the water features throughout the Park including the challenging Gauntlet
  • Enjoy a nature walk in New Zealand native bush
  • Feed the wild, but friendly, Rainbow Trout living in the neighbouring Waikato River
  • Soak your feet in our geothermal foot bath
  • Fish all day for prawns in the fishing ponds. And when you’ve caught some - the chef can cook them for you - for free!

New Zealand’s Finest Prawn Restaurant

Everyone likes to end up in the Huka Prawn Park restaurant. The stunning location alone makes for a meal you’ll never forget. You can dine alfresco on the banks of the Waikato River and treat yourself to a mouth-watering selection of prawn dishes (or nonprawn if you prefer), with the perfect wee drop to accompany of course.
